Sister Achievements

Sr. Jeri Cashman, OPJeri Cashman, OP, was featured in the June 6 issue of the Archdiocese of Dubuque’s (IA) Witness newspaper. In the article, “Sinsinawa Dominicans try a new approach,” Jeri describes the intentional community known as Third Floor East at Sinsinawa Mound. “We know this . . . is an opportunity to invite women to join us in our mission,” she said. Jeri was also featured in the April 25 issue of the Witness in an article titled “Yes, Dubuque does have Sisters!” She and other Sisters in vocation ministry hosted a tour of tri-state area motherhouses for women in discernment. The group shared prayer, meals, and stories along the way. Click here to honor this Sister.

Sister Ivonne Feeney, OPYvonne Feeney, OP, was pictured in the May 28 issue of the Austin [TX] American-Statesman newspaper in an article titled “Dripping Springs group helps neighbor: Volunteers buy widow mobile home.” When a mother of five children under the age of 12 lost her husband in a car accident, a group of local churches and volunteers organized a group called Dripping Springs Community Mission Project and purchased a new, furnished mobile home for the family. Jim CorteseJoanne CorteseAssociates Joanne and Jim Cortese were featured in the May 24 issue of the Montana Standard. “Along the Divide: Food bank directors retiring” recounts the eight years the couple has dedicated to the Butte Emergency Food Bank as volunteer directors, including “overseeing the construction of a new building and the purchase of a new forklift, two goals Jim set for their time at the helm.” The article quoted Elissa Mitchell, chairman of the food bank board, saying, “They are wonderful people in every way, shape, and form. It’s going to be a great loss. . . . Not everybody can do what they did.”

Sister Marie Juan Maney, OPMarie Juan Maney, OP, was honored for her work as music director at St. Augustine Parish in Platteville, WI, in a video titled “Giving the Notes Life.” Directed and produced by Emily Allen and Lexie Hemesath, the video pays tribute to Marie Juan and highlights her talent as a musician and teacher through interviews with the parish priest, parishioners, and students. Sister Maureen McPartland, OPMaureen McPartland, OP, was featured recently in the Archdiocese of Dubuque’s Witness newspaper, for her official appointment as chancellor of the Archdiocese of Dubuque. Click here to honor this Sister.
